This month’s featured #SF neighborhood video - The Castro, San Francisco

The Castro is one of San Francisco’s most recognizable neighborhoods. At the heart sits a rainbow flag, known by many names. It acts as a symbol of acceptance, which is how the Castro is defined. It’s a place that is rich in history, from its initial settling in the 1880s to Scandinavians in the 1910s, to the influx of openly gay servicemen during World War II and the LGBT community in the 1970s. Its openness has been led by the inhabitants who actively sought equality: people such as Harvey Milk, whose presence is apparent even today.

The Castro has a genuine San Francisco feel, due to the classic Victorian and Edwardian architecture that lines the streets. The neighborhood is located centrally in the city and easy to access via the Castro BART and various Muni lines. Sun normally dominates the forecast, making the neighborhood a great place for various dogwalkers, city strollers, and other individuals seeking an active lifestyle or relief from the fog.

The main streets are Market and Castro. They are booming with a diverse selection of restaurants and cafes, some of which are even dog friendly. There are multiple gyms, salons, pet stores and shops packed into this area. The nightlife in the Castro is undoubtably one of the most happening scenes in the city. The historic Castro Theater showcases endless amounts of films nightly. There are vibrant nightclubs and late-night food, as well as an abundance of bars for dancers and relaxers alike.

During the day, however, life is rather normal. Families, students, and young professionals of all ages and cultures populate the streets. The Harvey Milk art center hosts performing arts and sits directly above Duboce Park, which hosts a playground and a dog park.

The Castro can be described in many ways, but the only way to truly know what it’s about is to experience it and the many wonderful treats the neighborhood has to offer.

Onyx in Potrero Hill releases interior photos and sample pricing.

The 20 condos at Potrero Hill’s newest development are readying for their close-up. The model unit has been staged and photographed, and an update on the development’s sales site tells us that “The wait is almost over - Onyx is opening soon!” We also learn the units will start in the $800,000s for one bedrooms, andeach condo will average around $1,000 per square foot. There are nine one-bedroom units, ten two-bedroom units, and one three-bedroom unit. Floor plans? This way. Though no specific date has been set, the sales office is still on track to open come March.

The landmark Royal Insurance Building was the first commercial building completed downtown after the 1906 quake.  Designed by New York City Architects Howell and Stokes, the building features a Georgian Revival brick and stone exterior and imported Italian marble. In 2006, the building was converted to exquisite residential condos. This gorgeous building is home to 46 residences consisting of 1 and 2 bedroom units as well as several 2-level “townhomes”.

Unit 501 is a beautifully appointed, rarely available corner condo. The unit is approximately 658 sq ft. (per public records) and features high ceilings (over 9′), tall brass and steel windows, and an in-unit washer/dryer.  The kitchen opens to the living/dining area and features granite counters and stainless steel appliances.

San Francisco Homes for Sale | Listings | Real Estate

Introducing a more natural way to search new listings. I’m introducing the only site that allows my clients to surface listings by the features that are most important to them.

Have you ever wondered if a home you saw online had a very specic feature you desired and amentitity close? views? faces east? near bart or Google shuttle? lots of trees? Natural Light and much more. Staring at pictures online to try and see if a room has enough “natural light” or has simply been touched-up “enhanced” is not fun at all Or maybe you just want an open floor plan and you don’t want to look through 30+ photos to determine if it does or not or the exact layout of the property.

Now you have the option to search with specific criterias above. These features are not available on Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com, Craigslist, Redfin or any other current real estate site.
